The TerraOasis web site has changed over the years, adding bits and pieces in that time. Old things are often displaced in the recurring cycle of change. But sometimes they find a new home in a repository somewhere, and slowly assume the station of artifact or objet d'art.
Archive is like a drawer, closet or attic, where long-forgotten things wait for us to rediscover them.
Appelveldt Cottage
Many years ago, a couple halted their carriage to pick a few apples growing in an orchard beside the lane on which they had been driving...a common habit among travelers in the area. The Marcus brothers who owned that orchard, however, weren't pleased that people were helping themselves to the apples. So, over time, they encouraged weeds and then trees to grow over the lane.
Today, thick trees mark the position of the old lane, and only a few, aged apple trees remain of the original Marcus orchard. But the Shenandoah Valley is still home to many orchards, and a new lane runs parallel to the old one. The new lane and the farm that borders it are calledAppelveldt
